Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 Tracker Updates with New U.S. Map

The Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker now features both a world and U.S. map, showing detailed COVID-19 infection data at the county level.

When we first shared the tracker with you in mid-March, the total number of identified global infections was approximately 169,000. Since then, that number has skyrocketed to over three times that amount in the U.S. alone.

In response to this shift, the team behind the Johns Hopkins University tracker has released a sub-map of just the U.S., with data broken down by state and county. Like the original world map, you can zoom in and select a region for additional information. You can also select a state or county from the drop-down menus in the upper-right corner.

You can also switch the focus of the county-based heatmap from the default view to see the number of confirmed cases by population density, the number of deaths, and the fatality rate.

You can check out other coronavirus trackers here.
