Twitter CEO personally told Ilhan Omar he won’t remove the Trump tweet that sparked death threats against her: report

According to the Washington Post, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey called Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and personally explained to her why he wasn’t going to remove the tweet from President Donald Trump that triggered an avalanche of hate messages and threats on her life.

The tweet contained a video of the Twin Towers burning, interspersed with an out-of-context clip of Omar discussing the 9/11 attacks that Republicans have criticized her over. “NEVER FORGET!” Trump headlined the tweet.

Dorsey admitted to Omar that his company was falling short in removing hate speech and targeted harassment from the platform. However, he told Omar Twitter would not be removing the Trump tweet, claiming that it did not violate Twitter’s rules, and adding that the tweet was already so broadly shared across other media platforms that removing it at this point would do nothing.

Omar, a freshman congresswoman and one of the two first ever Muslim women to serve in the House, has been a particular target of obsession and anger by many GOP activists.
